Ten years ago I was comfortable living in my neighborhood,

the Mission, and rarely ventured into "far away" neighborhoods like Chinatown, Ocean Beach or even nearby SoMa except for the occasional party, show or restaurant. During grad school in New York, I began to regret not exploring all that San Francisco had to offer when I had the chance. I made a vow to do one new thing a week when I returned.

I got my start following leads from the yearly "Best of the Bay" in the San Francisco Bay Guardian. And I would vary my routes when biking or walking around town in order to find new things. Before long, my knowledge of cafés, bars, live music venues, boutiques, and art galleries became a wonder to my friends. I found myself spending a lot of time helping them getting the most out of the city. And I quickly became hooked on hooking people up.

This fueled further adventures. I began deepening my knowledge of the city by asking people where they like to eat, shop, and hang out. What local bands, artists and designers did they love? What are they excited about in their neighborhood? What's going on this week that cannot be missed? With each adventure I would ask myself, "do I know anyone who would like this, who can help this person, who should know about this event?" This is how I became know to friends and an ever-expanding circle of artists, shopkeepers, and designers as Kim Connector.

In between my explorations, I hosted trunk shows, underground dinner parties, art openings, fashion shows, and hipster clothing swaps. I gave tours to family, friends and friends of friends visiting San Francisco. So with great excitement, I give you the culmination of my experience, Fashion Slave. Fashion Slave is where you get to live the life of a dyed-in-the-wool local... if only for an afternoon. Our outings are one-of-a-kind experiences that reveal the hidden treasures of San Francisco, the people, places, and things you would have missed even if you had lived here for years.

So forget the tour bus, let's go shopping.
